Located just about 45 km from Sawai Madhopur, the National Chambal Sanctuary on the pristine Chambal River is one of India's most tranquil and ecologically important aquatic reserves. The river is one of the cleanest in North India, providing a protected sanctuary for the critically endangered Gharial (fish-eating crocodile), the Mugger crocodile, Gangetic freshwater dolphins, and over 300 species of resident and migratory birds.
The safari is conducted on safe, modern motorized boats driven by certified boatmen and naturalists. As you glide silently across calm waters, you can spot basking crocodiles on sandbanks, Indian skimmers skimming the water surface, black-bellied terns, and turtle colonies sunning themselves on rocks.
